Loftia's Closed Beta: What the Gridfall District Revealed

Loftia's closed beta ran April 22 – May 6, 2026 and drew 24,648 players. What the test revealed about the Gridfall district and the road to Fall 2026.

Loftia’s first closed beta is done, and it gave the community its clearest look yet at how this cozy solarpunk MMO actually feels to play. Here’s a recap of what the test covered, plus what the numbers tell us going into the Fall 2026 Early Access launch.

The numbers

The beta ran April 22 – May 6, 2026 — a two-week window open to Kickstarter backers, Loftia Partners, and giveaway winners. It pulled in 24,648 players, the highest concurrent community Loftia has gathered so far.

For a game that’s still pre-launch, that’s a healthy signal: it points to genuine appetite for a solarpunk take on the cozy-MMO space, and it gave Qloud Games a real-world stress test of the shared world before Early Access.

The Gridfall district

The star of the beta was the Gridfall — the first district Loftia has shown in playable form. It’s described as a concrete jungle rebuilt from scraps: old structures given new life rather than torn down, which fits the game’s whole upcycling ethos. Where a lot of games would render a ruined city as something to escape, Loftia frames Gridfall as a place you help bring back.

That reclaimed, lived-in look is the same thing you’re now seeing in the release-window gameplay trailer — much of that footage was filmed during these very playtests.

A genuinely shared world

One of the clearest takeaways from the beta: Loftia’s world is communal. Players shared open city spaces with many others at once, rather than being siloed into private instances. Your floating island is your own, but the wider world around it is alive with other people — meeting characters, taking on quests, and pitching in on community projects.

That’s the core tension Loftia is built around, and the beta is the first time we saw it working at scale.

What it means for Fall 2026

The beta did its job: it validated demand, gave the team footage for the reveal trailer, and let players get hands-on with Gridfall. The next milestone is Early Access in Fall 2026 on Steam and the Epic Games Store, with an exact date still to be announced.

If you missed this beta, the best way to get in line for what’s next — and to be notified when the date lands — is to wishlist on Steam. We break down the full timeline on the Release Tracker, and there’s more on the setting in our world guide.
