If you’ve been keeping an eye on Loftia, the cozy solarpunk life-sim MMO from Qloud Games, here’s the current state of play in one place. After a successful closed beta and a fresh appearance at Wholesome Direct 2026, the picture for Early Access is clearer than it’s ever been — even if one big detail is still missing.
When is Loftia’s Early Access?
Fall 2026 (Northern Hemisphere). That window was reaffirmed at Wholesome Direct 2026, which premiered on June 6, alongside a new Release Window Gameplay Trailer.
The one thing we still don’t have is an exact date. The developer has said they’ll share the specific day as soon as they can, so “Fall 2026” is as precise as it gets for now. If a hard date is what you’re waiting on, wishlisting on Steam is still the most reliable way to get notified the moment it drops.
What platforms will it launch on?
At Early Access, Loftia launches on:
- Steam (PC & Mac)
- Epic Games Store (PC & Mac)
Coming later, after Early Access:
- Nintendo Switch — confirmed as planned, but without a date. The team has said they’re optimizing the game with Switch in mind, which is good news for lower-spec PCs too. A Switch 2 version has not been announced.
Not yet announced:
- PlayStation 5 and Xbox — never named by the developer. They fall under a general aim to support “other consoles too”, with nothing specific said either way.
- Mobile (iOS / Android) — named explicitly as a post-launch aim, but with no date and no confirmed build. Stronger footing than PS5/Xbox, weaker than Switch.
Steam Deck isn’t officially supported, but a game built to run on Switch is very likely to play fine on it. For a full per-platform breakdown, see the Loftia platforms guide.
How much will it cost? Is it free-to-play?
Loftia is buy-to-play: you pay once to access all the gameplay, with microtransactions limited to cosmetics and no pay-to-win. The exact price hasn’t been announced yet — expect that to arrive around the same time as the launch date.
What did the closed beta show?
Loftia’s first closed beta ran April 22 – May 6, 2026 for Kickstarter backers, Loftia Partners, and giveaway winners. It drew 24,648 players — the game’s highest player count to date — and gave the community its first hands-on look at the Gridfall district.
That beta footage is exactly what you’re seeing in the new gameplay trailer: much of it was filmed during the playtests, including moments captured by the community itself.
A full-circle moment
There’s a nice bit of symmetry here. Loftia first debuted its teaser at Wholesome Direct back in 2023 — the same showcase where it returned in 2026 to lock in its release window. To celebrate the news, the team ran a community event from June 6–13, rallying players to “restore power to the Gridfall” as the trailer racked up likes and comments.
